Building Musical Bridges

The motto of the Ottumwa Area Community Chorus is “Building Musical Bridges”; but it could just as accurately be “building community bridges through music”, and in our case, through choral music. Our fervent hope, mission, and purpose for existence is to provide a wide range of opportunities for multicultural, intercultural, and multigenerational choral singing to occur, and in this way, truly represent a “community” chorus; through the joining or “bridging” of the voices of a widely diverse population into one beautiful and truly connected choral ensemble.

Welcome!

I am so glad that you have decided to take a little time out of your busy schedule to try and learn more about who we are, why we exist, and what we do! The Ottumwa Area Community Chorus is committed to offering Ottumwa and the surrounding communities a truly unique singing opportunity for everyone - regardless of age or ability level - to come together and sing beautiful choral music. It is important to us that we authentically represent the community in which we are based, for not to do so would make it very inappropriate to call ourselves a “community chorus”. This means we are committed to welcoming and including singers/people from all of the ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic groups found in Ottumwa and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to be fully inclusive, and to provide a consistent atmosphere of unconditional positive regard and kindness to one and all who choose to spend their time with this organization. I hope you’ll take some time to read some of the testimonials provided by esteemed community members and current and past members of OACC, to watch some of the video clips from past performances, and to look at some of our favorite photos of these talented and wonderful individuals over the past 6 years, both young and old! Thank you for your interest and support, and I hope to see you at one of our many performances throughout the year.
